I first published this review February 11, 2011
This book was suggested
to my by my beautiful sister-in-law, Cindy. It was very easy and quick
to read. A very encouraging book.
The
author of this book is the father of Colton, Todd Burpo. He is also a
pastor of Crossroads Wesleyan Church in Imperial, Nebraska. He
volunteers at Chase County Public Schools as wrestling coach for Junior
high school students, as well as serving as a member of the school
board. Todd is also a volunteer fireman. To support his family, he
also operates a company called Overhead Door Specialists.
After
a serious illness, Colton, - then 4 years old, had to have surgery.
After the surgery he revealed what he experienced during the time in the
operating room. He talked of visiting heaven, of watching the Doctors
and watching his Daddy pray for him. As time went on, he revealed more
about this time - he talked about meeting Jesus, about Jesus riding His
horse, of God and how big God really is and how big His chair is and the
Holy Spirit and how He "shoots down power" to help us. He had an
understanding of "heaven" that was unbelievable - and encouraging to
each of us.
It's
a remarkable book - the author talks in his own voice and the voice of
his son, Colton. So it's easy to read and as I said earlier a very
encouraging book.
